Ralph Nader Speaks on God’s Will

"Jim Cook: Mr. Nader, I’d like to start out by pointing out that in the Saddleback Forum, Barack Obama indicated that he found it to be his purpose to do the Lord’s work in his political life. Over the summer, Sarah Palin indicated that it was God’s will to build a natural gas pipeline. As a presidential candidate, has God informed you of his will in that regard? Does God have any plans for you that you’re aware of?" Click on the headline to read Mr. Nader's response.

And here is a fine example of the necessity for separation of church and state. It is absolutely a clear path to corruption and destruction, the effects and proof of which riddle the Bible and countless other history books and legends. The topic is among the first addressed when forming our country, and it has been fine tuned since then to be fairly represented here:

The culmination of all of these cases came in 1971. The case, Lemon v Kurtzman (403 US 602 [1971]), established what is known today as "The Lemon Test."
The Lemon Test is used to examine a law to see if it has the effect of establishing a religion. The Court wrote:

In the absence of precisely stated constitutional prohibitions, we must draw lines with reference to the three main evils against which the Establishment Clause was intended to afford protection: "sponsorship, financial support, and active involvement of the sovereign in religious activity."

Every analysis in this area must begin with consideration of the cumulative criteria developed by the Court over many years. Three such tests may be gleaned from our cases. First, the statute must have a secular legislative purpose; second, its principal or primary effect must be one that neither advances nor inhibits religion; finally, the statute must not foster "an excessive government entanglement with religion."

The role of government is to reflect the will of the people, and administrate that will. Making decisions for the people based on personal belief is not leadership, it is control. Listening to the voices of ALL of the people, and determining a path forward that considers everyone does not allow for personal beliefs to enter into the equation. It's a hard enough task, one that requires true dedication and devotion to country. There is simply NO WAY that any ONE person's religious beliefs could possibly represent enough AMERICANS to be considered a basis for making decisions for us all.

All of that aside, the people at the top of the political headlines today touting their "Christianity" hardly reflect the words, goals and stories of the Bible. I don't see any giving away of wealth to the poor. There has been no news of someone asking any of them for something and it being given freely, as required in the bible. Those 'Celebrity' Christians aren't offering aid and support to the weak and suffering, certainly not those others shun. It seems clear to me that too many are simply calling themselves Christian, for the personal benefits it affords them. So many church going people are given such benefits of doubt, ulterior motives are often overlooked. Sometimes from hopeful innocence, sometimes out of further greed and selfishness.
There is no where to go but backwards in time if this press of religion into government succeeds. Please take the time to remember our history, and the suffering that resulted from trying to govern by religion.

Isaiah Chapter 1
15
When you spread out your hands, I close my eyes to you; Though you pray the more, I will not listen. Your hands are full of blood!
16
Wash yourselves clean! Put away your misdeeds from before my eyes; cease doing evil;
17
learn to do good. Make justice your aim: redress the wronged, hear the orphan's plea, defend the widow.
18
Come now, let us set things right, says the LORD: Though your sins be like scarlet, they may become white as snow; Though they be crimson red, they may become white as wool.
19
If you are willing, and obey, you shall eat the good things of the land;
20
But if you refuse and resist, the sword shall consume you: for the mouth of the LORD has spoken!
21
How has she turned adulteress, the faithful city, so upright! Justice used to lodge within her, but now, murderers.
22
Your silver is turned to dross, your wine is mixed with water.
23
Your princes are rebels and comrades of thieves; Each one of them loves a bribe and looks for gifts. The fatherless they defend not, and the widow's plea does not reach them.
24
Now, therefore, says the Lord, the LORD of hosts, the Mighty One of Israel: Ah! I will take vengeance on my foes and fully repay my enemies!
25
I will turn my hand against you, and refine your dross in the furnace, removing all your alloy.
26
I will restore your judges as at first, and your counselors as in the beginning; After that you shall be called city of justice, faithful city.
27
Zion shall be redeemed by judgment, and her repentant ones by justice.
28
Rebels and sinners alike shall be crushed, those who desert the LORD shall be consumed.
29
You shall be ashamed of the terebinths which you prized, and blush for the groves which you chose.
30
You shall become like a tree with falling leaves, like a garden that has no water.
31
The strong man shall turn to tow, and his work shall become a spark; Both shall burn together, and there shall be none to quench the flames.
